We need volunteers to do many jobs:

- Walker: Walking all or any part of the way from Kingston to Ottawa. You can walk an hour or two, a day, several days or the whole thing! We'll provide Fair Vote, Proportional Representation and Electoral Reform signs and buttons, you bring the smiles and enthusiasm!

- Driver: If you'd like to help but don't want to walk, you could bring your car and help with driving people and equipment to the day's start point and from the day's end point, picking up walkers who may have walked their limit, and other tasks we haven't yet realized need to be done

If you'd like to be part of Walk for Proportional Representation, email us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and let us know what dates and times you'll be walking and what resources you can bring.

Stuff You'll Need and Factors to Consider

Walkers - If you plan to walk with us, keep in mind we'll be going 18 km, up to 30 km per day. Bring a small backpack or fanny pack with your lunch for the day, a small, light folding chair (you can stow it in one of the cars), a rain jacket, a water bottle and wear a name tag. You may need mosquito repellant.  Wear wool socks (less likely than cotton to cause blisters) and most importantly, wear appropriate walking / hiking shoes that fit properly and that you've previously worn to walk at least 50km, including a few 10 km outings. You can walk any time / distance with us that you want, and you don't have to walk the full distance each day, but keep in mind you're responsible for your own transportation so plan to have a friend drive you to your start point each day and pick you up wherever you finish.  If such transportation is a problem, but you want to walk with us, we may be able to help out - contact us at This email address is being protected from spambots. Drivers - Depending on the number of walkers who want to join us, we may need some volunteer drivers. If you volunteer as a driver, we'd expect you'll bring and use your own car - but we can envisage a situation where we may need an extra driver or two, so if that describes you, let us know. The need would include:
- picking up and delivering people to and from the walk, especially on days 1&2 on the way to Westport, and especially if we have any walkers who do not have their own driver / companion
- picking up any walkers who have lagged behind or are down with a blister and may appreciate a ride
- carry collapsible tables and folding chairs to lunch points
- carry water to refill walkers' bottles
- other tasks
We expect each walker would be associated with a driver. Each driver would have responsibility for one or more walkers. It's the walker's responsibility to ensure they have an arrangement with a driver each day - the arrangements could of course be different on different days.
